At START Hack, people team up to code something new and exciting in a short period of time. The coding starts at midnight on Friday, March 8th, and lasts for 35 hours until Sunday morning, 11 AM. Amazing prizes and an exclusive participation at START Summit 2019 await you.
START Hack will take place on March, 8th to 10th at the University of St. Gallen (CH), which is only a 15 minute walk away from the St. Gallen main station. You can either travel to St. Gallen by bus or train, while close airports are in Altenrhein, Zurich and Basel.
Any student from any university in the world or young professional may apply. You do not need to study in a programming related field. We are happy to welcome anyone with a strong interest in coding, even if you are a beginner. Prove your coding skills and gain more practical experience.
The event will begin at 4pm on the 8th of March with the check-in, which will be followed by the opening ceremony at 6pm. An exciting programme will follow, and the event concludes with the closing ceremony at around 4pm on Sunday, March 10th.
The challenges give a context or background to APIs and data that are provided only at START Hack by our partner companies in the areas of Blockchain, AI, Internet of Things and VR / AR. You qualify for a specific company prize, additionally to the main prizes, if you use one of the services, even if you work on something completely different.
Every corporate posing a case will offer a prize for their respective case. These will not be announced beforehand, since your motivation is definitely not the prize but the amazing experience itself 😉 There will also be an overall monetary prize for a winning team and you may even get the opportunity to showcase your project in front of 2.800 people at START Summit.
Teams always consist of four people. You may apply as a single person or as a team, and there will be a team-building process before the challenges start, so that incomplete teams will be filled and single people can team up together.
Please bring your laptop, charger and other gadgets you might use for your project. Don’t forget motivation and creativity. We will provide sleeping rooms and a limited amount of mattresses for you to take a break. However, it is best to come prepared. Sleep well beforehand and feel free to bring your own sleeping bag.
We will provide you with reimbursements as much as possible. After all applications have been accepted, all successful applicants will be contacted with specifics about reimbursement details. However, we can’t guarantee for these. To apply for a travel subsidy, please click here.
